Margaret O’Rourke Doherty has been immersed in the hair and beauty industry for many years. After a five-year stint as a senior receptionist for Peter Mark, Margaret earned a CIDESCO Diploma in Beauty and Spa Management in addition to Postgraduate Diplomas in Management, Leadership, and Strategy & Innovation. She completed her Masters in Business Practice in 2019.
In 2017, Margaret founded Image Skillnet – the dedicated network for supporting the Irish Beauty and Hair sector with subsided, tailored training. In the short two years since, Image Skillnet has gone from strength to strength, culminating in the Network being crowned the overall winner in the Education Business section of the 2019 All Ireland Business Awards. At the same ceremony, Margaret herself was confirmed as a Business All-Stars accredited Thought Leader.
In 2019, Margaret was one of the founding members of HABIC – Hair and Beauty Industry Confederation. This fledgling industry body is working towards supporting and enhancing the continued development of the beauty and hair sector in Ireland.
In addition to her work with Image Skillnet and HABIC, Margaret is the Chairwoman of ISME (the Irish SME Association), and the Chair of the Consortium Steering Group for the National Hairdressing Apprenticeship. Margaret lives in Leitrim with her husband Trevor and two daughters.
