The National Standards Authority of Ireland has just published the first European Standard for Beauty Salon Services. I.S EN 17226 sets out the requirements and recommendations for the provision of service in beauty salons and has been broadly welcomed by professionals working in the sector in Ireland.
This standard was developed by CEN (the European standard development organization) following an initial submission made by NSAI proposing the development of such a standard.
Due to the lack of regulation in Ireland and across Europe for the Beauty Industry, there has never been a more important time to raise standards.
The publication of this new beauty salon standard offers an opportunity for the beauty salon sector to show they are following good practices in the delivery of beauty treatments.
It means beauty therapists can say with confidence that they are providing the best possible service to customers.
I.S EN 17226 is applicable to everyone working within the beauty industry. So, if you are a salon owner, therapist, mobile therapist or student you will see major benefits by adopting the standard.
